Our Collection in Numbers
The Information Center for Women’s Education houses approximately 150,000 books, 4,200 periodicals (magazines and journals), and 570,000 newspaper clippings.

Browsing
The Information Center for Women’s Education is open to everyone. Materials in our collection can be searched for via the Literature Database.

Lending
1.NWEC visitors (1)Please fill in the necessary information on a Library Application and show some kind of ID confirming your name and current address (driving license, health insurance card, student ID, etc.) at the counter in the Information Center for Women’s Education. (2)You will be issued with a library card upon completion of application procedures. This card is valid for 3 years from the date of issue, and is renewable. 2.Brrowing through your local library or women’s center Materials can be borrowed through your local library or women’s center. (1)Please let us know what materials you wish to borrow through your local library or women’s center by fax or email. (2)We will inform you of the deadline for return and the postage due when we send the requested materials. (3)Please enclose a stamp for the appropriate postage when returning the materials. (Please use registered mail) 3.People living, working or studying in Saitama The Saitama mutual-lending service can be used to borrow materials without incurring the cost of postage. Please ask for details at your local public library in Saitama. 4.University-affiliated persons Requests can be made through your university library. Please ask for details there.

Return Procedures
1.Return the materials to a member of staff at the counter in the Information Center for Women’s Education. 2.Place the materials to be returned in the book box outside the Information Center for Women’s Education. (AV materials must be returned at the counter or at the front desk) 3.By mail *Please pay the postage yourself.

Copying Service
We provide a copying service for materials in our collection, within the limitations of the Copyright Act.
1.NWEC Visitors
Please use one of the photocopiers in the Business Center in the lobby on the 1st floor after completing lending procedures at the counter in the Information Center for Women’s Education.
2.Postal Service
A postal service is available for a copy fee (35YEN(black and white) / 80YEN(color) per sheet) and postage. (Payable upon receipt)
Please apply online or via telephone, fax, mail, etc.

Applications for copies can be made once user registration has been completed.

(1)Please advise us of the material you wish to have copied (publication name, volume number, year published, author, article name, etc.)
(2)We will send you the copies and an invoice.
(3)Please transfer the corresponding amount via a post office or bank.
National Women’s Education Center
The Women’s Archives Center collects, organizes, stores and provides historical and other materials of women and women’s groups throughout Japan pertaining to issues such as women’s education and gender equality policy.
