Workshop of commemorating the donation of the Beate Shirota Gordon archive materials

Date:June 21, 2024

Ms. Nicole A. Gordon, the eldest daughter of Ms. Beate Sirota Gordon, who was involved in the drafting of the Constitution of Japan, donated new materials to the NWEC Women's Archives Center, including letters written by Ms. Beate Sirota Gordon when she served as an interpreter for Ms. Fusae Ichikawa during her visit to the United States in 1952.

To commemorate this donation, we held a workshop with the Nihon Josei Gakushu Zaidan( Japan Association for Women’s Education (JAWE) ) to follow in the footsteps of Ms. Beate Sirota Gordon and Ms. Fusae Ichikawa, who laid the foundation for gender equality in Japan, and to discuss the challenges that are relevant to us today in the pursuit of gender equality and the importance of NWC Women's Archive materials.
