National Women’s Education Center of Japan

On Friday, June 14, 2024, Madam Sustjie Mbumba, First Lady of the Republic of Namibia visited the National Women's Education Center.

After the welcoming remarks by the President of NWEC, Natsuko Hagiwara, and the report on the roles and activities of NWEC by the Director of the Office of Research and International Affairs, the current situations were shared. These included the importance of securing safe spaces for consultations and shelters for women who have left home, eliminating regional differences, and the necessity of entrepreneurship training to improve the economic independence of women.

During the short facility tour, which included visits to the Information Center for Women's Education, the Women's Archives Center, and the seminar buildings, Madam Mbumba showed particular interest in the collections of news articles on gender and women's issues from the newspapers and digitalized database.
