National Women’s Education Center of Japan

　We presented a panel exhibition at one of the themed events of the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9), held at Pacifico Yokohama from August 20 to 22.　
　TICAD is an international conference focused on the development of Africa. Under the theme of “Co-create Innovative Solutions,” the main TICAD 9 session discussed the fields of the economy, society, peace and stability with a focus on priority issues across sectors such as private-sector-led sustainable growth, empowerment of youth and women, regional integration, and intra- and inter-regional connectivity.
　NWEC’s panel exhibition adopted the theme of “Initiatives for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment,” introducing our training programs, research initiatives, provision of information and resources, and international cooperation, along with the gender equality centers located throughout Japan, highlighting our efforts to promote gender equality nationwide.　
　The booth saw many visitors from both Japan and abroad, who asked numerous questions about NWEC’s initiatives. Visitors also shared comments such as “I’d love to visit,” and “I’d like to use these resources in my research.”
　Through interacting directly with visitors, we felt a high level of interest in NWEC’s activities, and this event proved to be a valuable opportunity to promote NWEC to many people.
